Through the reinforcement of language and translation skills acquired at the subjects “Analysis and translation of Japanese texts in media” and “Analysis and translation of Japanese scientific texts I” the students learn to translate more complex (especially non-fictional) texts from Japanese into Slovenian and vice versa. Through contrast analysis of Slovene and Japanese on a lexical, syntactic, textual and pragmatic level the students are familiarized with methodological approaches, micro and macro strategies and frequent problems when translating into Japanese. When translating technical texts from Slovene, first of all similar texts from the same field in Slovene and Japanese are collected and analyzed. The text is translated regarding the particular situation of translation. Later the translations of other students is analyzed on a pragmatic, text linguistical and lexical level. The students are alos familiarized with bibliographical, electronic and web sources, lexicographical aids and computer tools used for translation.
