Content

The subject French Poety deals with the evolution of poetic motives, forms and figures of style from the beginnings to the later periods of French poetry, starting with the texts which determined the developement of French poetry (renaissance, classical), including the themes characteristic for the poetry of the Enlightenment, Romantic and Parnassian periods as well as a selection of poetic and with that, in part, ideological currents in the 20th century. The students will gain insight into specific poetic creativity in each respective period through its 'characteristic' texts, where methodology and hermeneutics of reading and understanding will also be important.
