A general overview of Czech history between 1780 and 1848 as a basis for understanding the shifts in society and consequently culture at the end of the 18th century and in the first half of the 19th century.
In the foreground will be the following chapters from Czech literary history with examples of authentic texts:
1. The development of literary genres from the Czech National Revival to 1848.
2. Comparison of the development of Czech literature with Slovenian.
3. The idea of the modern nation, embodied in the cultivation of language and literature (J. Jungmann).
4. The idea of Slavic reciprocity (Ján Kollár, P. J. Šafařík) and the reception of the idea in Slovenia.
5. The development of Czech theater and drama in the first half of the 19th century and its dependence on German patterns (J. K. Tyl).
6. Czech romanticism (K. H. Mácha).
7. The first appearances of realism, i. e. protorealism.
8. Elements of folklore in literature (F. L. Čelakovský), a collection of fairy tales and legends (B. Němcová, K. J. Erben).
9. The importance of Czech journalism (K. Havlíček Borovský).
