• Understanding of the phenomenon of Romanticism from the perspective of the socio-economic consequences of the industrial revolution
• Analysis and interpretation of selected prose works of English Romanticism
• Intercultural and intertextual connections between English and Slovene literatures, both in the period of Romanticism and later, with a special emphasis on the influence of the English authors upon Slovene literary production

English Novel in the 20th Century
Students become familiar with a selection of English novels, and choose one novel to present in class. They define the literary historical placement of the novel in the source culture and the position of the novel's translation in the target Slovene literary system, analyse its narratological specifics and linguistic modes of expression. They also study the reception of the English novel in the intercultural Slovene position, pointing out the parallels and the differences in experiencing literary texts in different cultural circumstances.
